An Award - in the Form of a Tag
When I got up this morning, I realized that I was on top of my school work for the week, and that I had time to do a blogrun. I have two major categories: Med blogs, and non-Med blogs - (original, eh? ;o) - and I alternate between the two when I have time to start a blogrun. This time, it was the “non-Med blogs” turn. I leisurely began with A, and started working my way up the alphabet.
By the time I got about half-way through that group, I got an email from a sweet someone, telling me that I’d been tagged by Pattie. I got to thinking about that, because on my way through TJ’s Dogs Kids Cats Life blog, I saw that she’d been tagged by Pattie. At the time, I couldn’t help but notice that TJ had tagged Vijay … which tickled me, because I always tag him if I get meme’ed. One of the first things that went through my mind was: “Oh oh! If it’s the same tag, I won’t be able to tag Vijay!” *blink*
I finally got to Pattie’s blog, and this is what I found: The Morning After. Yup, I’d been tagged. Pattie had given me a “Thinking Blogger Award!” Apparently it’s an award given to the authors of blogs which make you think.
Pattie’s an angel - a thoughtful one at that! I’m not at all sure that I’ve earned this award, but I’ll gratefully accept it, so that I can pass it on to some blogger friends who really have earned it.
My biggest problem is choosing which five bloggers to give the award to. I can think of dozens of individuals who deserve this award, and choosing particular people is almost like saying that others weren’t worthy - but that’s not the case. My list would be quite long, if given the chance …
I had to choose someone, so here are the bloggers I’ve chosen, and why:
Dr. Bob from The Doctor is In … he has caused me to do more thinking than probably any other person alive today - and almost all of it heavy-duty, mind-reaming, soul-wrenching stuff. Dr. Bob - here’s your Thinking Blogger Award. You’ve earned it - in spades.

Dr. Hébert from Dr. Hébert’s Medical Gumbo, because his posts never leave me unmoved. He’s an extraordinary man, and I feel a sense of deep respect for him. Dr. Hébert … here’s your well earned award.

Ian Lidster from Or So I Thought - I can never just “visit” Ian’s blog, because I become all wrapped up in what he has to say, and find that I can’t move on until I’ve absorbed it all. Here’s your award, Ian … :o)

Dr. Sid Schwab from Surgeon’s Blog … no one else has been able to make me understand what life is like on the other side of the physician/patient relationship better than Dr. Schwab. When I’m reading his posts - or his book - I feel as if I can see it all through his eyes, and it’s quite a revelation. Here’s your award, Dr. Schwab!

And Sarah Jean Ballard from Blogger’s Block. Sarah has fought her way through some immense battles … and is an inspiration to me in so many ways. I’m never afraid to ask Sarah for her advice, because I know that she was wisdom well beyond her years. Sarah, here’s your reward. Thank you for everything, from the bottom of my heart.

If I could continue, there are so many I would like to add … Dr. Bernstein from the Bioethics Discussion Blog … I wish I had hours and hours to spend there; Dr. Grumet from In My Humble Opinion, whose posts show an amazing empathy and strength of spirit; Cathy from Cathy’s Rants and Ramblings, who’s been an inspiration to me since I first met her; Dr. Dork, who’s got to be one of the bravest people I know; Ipanema … heavens! If I had her blogging energy … !!! Know that if I regularly visit your blog, your name should be up here … because I don’t visit blogs that don’t make me think!
Others I would like to choose have already received theirs … (*cough*Vijay*cough*)
And I don’t want to forget Dr. Hans Engel, who hasn’t been online in over a month now. He’s had internet problems, and has also been quite ill. The “thinking” award I want to give him is for his emails rather than his blog … always kind, but he never pulls any punches, and has an amazing insight. He definitely makes me think, and I miss his emails.
Now for the nitty gritty. Here is what I got from the “Thinking Blogger Award” website:
The participation rules are simple:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

Gee Pattie, see what you’ve started? ;o)
Defend your blog from theft!

I think I’ll put the award on my bookcase. Coming from Moof, it deserves a special place.

Ha! thanks for the special mention Moofie. I think I got this award from the creator himself, Ilker Yoldas that was before I switched on my MBL Community. When I went to his blog, I didn’t know how to get the code and I just ignored it. :)
Now after several months, I had a golden version care of jmb and your special mention. Now this got me thinking. :)

Yes I agree with Pattie that you surely richly deserves it :)
Dear Moof you have always shared so much and bring upon so much reflections to so many :)
“Freely you have received, freely give” you are working very well on it :)

[…] Much to my surprise and delight, I was tagged with a Thinking Blogger Award by my very own Moofie today! […]

Hi Moof,
This was the first time I’ve ever been tagged and it was a nice one too, not just a book meme or some such. However I took care of two on your honourable mention list, Dr Dork and ipanema. Two of my favourites were already done by Vijay, Dr Rob and Dr Hébert.
Regards
jmb

[…] All Blogged up, A Moof’s tale: Moof has been already conferred this award by someone else, but my list of inspirational blogs would be incomplete without her. Moof, is one heck of an interesting and enthusiastic lady (although at some earlier point in my blogging life, I mistook her to be a man), and when I am down or upset about something, reading her blogs fills my life with optimism and hope.
