I was really concerned for him, because he hadn't told anyone he was ill, and he lives alone. Last night, I called him again to check on him, and there was no answer ... so I called his hospital, and sure enough - there he was! I called his room, and we spoke for a few moments. He was feeling somewhat better, had eaten something and kept it down, his labs were improving, and he felt certain that they would let him go home today. I'll be calling him tomorrow to see how he is. He tries to minimize everything, and that worries me even more. I teased him about being a terrible patient ... I don't think he realizes how worried he'd be about a patient who's as casual about his health he is. I think a lot of docs suffer from the same "disconnect!" ;o) I'll tell him you were asking about him.
