Interesting.

This must be the same Leslie that emailed me all this stuff too.

Apologies for the crossover in posting. I hadn't visited for a while! In any case, I made my post a more generic 'older father' issue.

Happy New Year, Moof.

The article provided by Dr. Charles tends to support what we are seeing in our schools. Teachers have even been saying they are seeing a great deal of children with autism, from parents that are both highly intelligent. They feel there is a link. It is an interesting concept. We also have a large scale environmental disaster here, from a company that's left an enormous amount of TCE behind. What ever the cause, there is definitely a steady increase in these cases.

Whenever we find an unknown disorder we will guess a diagnosis throughout the centuries. The more common or more serious, the more persons will provide more answers. Whether magicians, kings - or physicians or researchers may often guess wrong. Today and in recent years have been reported "diagnoses" of autism and none of the current are certain.
My suspicion that a completely different answer will come to proof abruptly in the not long future.

Dr. Charles, I read the article, and I found it intensely interesting. Quite a bit of it was right on. Thank you very much for passing it on!

I'm going to make a link to it the Asperger Syndrome category in my side bar. The article implies that Autism seems to have more of a hereditary genetic cause than an "accidental" genetic cause.

Do you have any ideas on this? Do any other readers have something they'd like to share along these lines?

Moof, it's a question rather than a comment as yet. Is there a time limit on how long sperm can be frozen for without losing its quality? It would help me when answering the questions.

Regards - Shinga

Mcewen ... I don't understand why one person's opinion in a poll would skew the results. That's what a poll is all about, after all - people's opinions.

The research found me rather than the other way around - by way of an email with a request to carry out the poll on my readers. I find genetics ... and autism ... very interesting, and it immediately captured my imagination.

Furthermore, my own life has been impacted in ways I could never fully describe by 3 members of my immediate family who have an Autistic Spectrum disorder.

I will be adding the results to the end of this post as they come in, so feel free to check back. Best wishes for 2007.

---

TJ! Thank you for taking the Poll! I'm going to put people's answers into the footer of the post ... most likely tonight, and try to continue doing so until I close the poll. I'm also interested in seeing what people think!

Have a great New Year, TJ! :o)

Whilst I like to jump on my soapbox and rant a bit, it don't think that would be very helpful. I'd like to submit answered to your poll, but I know that I would unfairly skew the results, which also wouldn't be very helpful.
I'm interested as to why you would have taken the time and trouble to do this research?
I'm also interested to see the result if you have the time and energy to collate them in due course.
Best wishes to you and your for 2007
