Funeral Hymns Tag
Ahhh yes! There’s nothing like a good cheerful tag on a dreary fall day. Ayuh. The trees are shedding their leaves, and raising their bare boughs toward the skies - like gnarly arms raised in futile supplication. Leaden skies complete the picture, as the wind buffets my window pane with icy cold bits of hail.
Methinks that Ripple must have had Halloween on the mind when she tagged me!
Since funerals are really for the living, I decided that it was time to call my doting family together so that we could plan my funeral. They must love me very much! I was touched by their enthusiasm!
Here are the songs that they’ve chosen to play at the barbequ … ahh … wake:
1) Celebrate by Kool and the Gang
Yahoo! This is your celebration
Yahoo! This is your celebrationCelebrate good times, come on! (Let’s celebrate)
Celebrate good times, come on! (Let’s celebrate)There’s a party goin’ on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you
2) Beautiful Day by U2
It was a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
Beautiful dayTouch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I’m not a hopeless caseWhat you don’t have you don’t need it now
What you don’t know you can feel it somehow
What you don’t have you don’t need it now
Don’t need it now
3) Staying Alive by the Bee Gees
And we’re stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,
Stayin’ alive.
Stayin’ alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,
Stayin’ alive.
4) Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash
I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down,down,down
and the flames went higher.
And it burns,burns,burns
the ring of fire
the ring of fire.
5) It’s the End of the World by REM
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
And now … I guess I’ll pass the tag on to the following lucky individuals:
Sarah-Jean - for your kindness in helping me to choose my own songs >;o)
Ipanema - I sincerely hope that, in the goodness of your heart, you’ll forgive me *blink!*
Wandering Visitor - Sorry … couldn’t resist! *snicker*
Dr. Anonymous - Dr. Anon, you’re a good sport, right? *blink!*
Cat Scan Man - Dr. Scan Man … you know it wouldn’t be a tag if you weren’t on this list!!! ;o)

Ipanema! Glad you’re still talking to me! *LOL* :o)

Sarah-Jean! Now that’s NOT fair! But I guess I did agree, so … *sigh*
For those who don’t know, once a little Boof grows up and gets married, they become full grown Moofs, unless they’re little boy Boofs, then they become Doofs. *cough* Anyway … there are three Moofs at the moment - and a whole load of “honorary Moofs” … but I’m one, Sarah is one by marriage (since she married a Doof ;) … and my daughter Dena is the other, since they’re pretty much her creation to begin with!
Anyway, Doofs like poking Moofs … go figure. Every now and then, a Moof will go a little bonkers, and poke another Moof … not kewl! I owe Sarah FIVE … count them: ONE TWO THREE FOUR … FIVE! … pokes!
But it looks as if I’m going to have to forgo the pleasure … 0.o
* I’ll get you yet, my little pretty! Muhahahahah! *
Oops! Did I say that out loud? *blink!*

What a fun meme!
I think your choices are well chosen. Although, I must admit, “Beautiful Day” by U2 reminds me of when the Patriots won their second SuperBowl. They played it constantly! It was really cool.
I figured you might have Dust in the Wind on that list. Isn’t that one of your favorites?

Wandering - you did a great job on your list of songs! I didn’t realize I’d hit a virgin Meme’er … *LOL* … :o)

Bee … from one “crusty old broad” to another, you did a fine job on your essay!

Pattie - I want you to know that you were a bargaining chip between Sarah and I. I had you set down as one of my tag-ees, and Sarah told me that if I was going to tag her, that I had to save you for her to tag! So … what’s it feel like to know someone has been fighting over you? *LOL*

Your loving family must think we’re all bonkers. But that’s ok, bonkers is fun.
I don’t know what I want played at my funeral, I only know what I DON’T want…”In the Garden” is a beautiful hymn, but they played it at every funeral I went to growing up, and I grew up in a small town where my parents knew EVERYONE, and I had a lot of elderly relatives, so I went to a LOT of funerals. I swear, if that gets played at my funeral, I will arise and choke the organist…

Funerals are too sad for me, Moof. I will wait for your autumn pictures instead. ;)

[...] Moof, thanks for your help and your kind words….. and the tag. We don’t play music at funerals,* so I’m sure you’ll forgive me if I give this one a miss. [...]

Shel … that would be something! If I’m still around, I’ll be sure that they play “In the Garden” for you … so that Classmate X can keep you around! ;o)

Dr. Emer … I tend to agree with you on that. Pics are now posted. Thank you for the inspiration!
