All Blogged Up: A Moof’s Tale

Just When I Thought I Was Safe …

The midterm was finally done, and I was tidying up my desktop. I was closing Adobe Reader, MS Word, and all of the supporting texts and docs which I had been allowed to use during the test. I was still a bit shaky, since tests seem to do that to me, but definitely feeling the glow from reading the computerized automatic results of the multiple choices and matching questions: all correct. The only score I was still unsure of was the short essay. It made me nervous that I was going to have to wait until sometime next week for that one …

As I clicked the last close button, the familiar “bing - bong” from my Thunderbird email client caught my attention. “Ahhh! Email! More spaaaaaaaaaaaam, I bet” … I brought up the client, and saw:

Subject: [All Blogged Up: A Moof’s Tale] Comment: “Alzheimer’s … How Soo From: Ex Utero

Hmm … odd. That’s Dr. Gordon …

I opened the email and this is what it said:

Comment:
Moof,

tag you’re it.

Uh oh! I’ve been MEME’ED!

The last time I was meme’ed, I got about half way through answering it, and something happened that took me away from the computer for enough days to make posting the meme moot. This time, I have no excuse.

I saw this one going around, and I snickered and chuckled. *sigh* I’ve got to learn to not do that!

Okay … here goes.

One book that changed your life?

Poem of the Man God by Maria Valtorta. Five volume set, 800 - 900 pages each. Made quite an impression on me. Not sure it would have the same effect today, but it did, indeed, massively change my life.

One book you have read more than once?

The Bible. Have also read it out loud - beginning to end - to my kids, while we were homeschooling.

One book you would want on a desert island?

Um … *cough* … ah … I take the fifth on this one … *blink!*

>;o)

One book that made you laugh?

Xanth by Piers Anthony … any of the earlier books, (I always regretted living in Mundania.) or the one Dr. Gordon mentioned, Robert Lyn Asprin’s Mythconceptions. It would be a toss up between the two for me.

One book that made you cry?

Songmaster by Orson Scott Card … in fact, his books have touched pretty deeply on more than one occasion. I have to give a bit of credit to Stephen Donaldson, too …

One book you wish had been written?

Jardin. I stopped about two chapters short of completing it. Bad Moof! Bad bad Moof! :o(

One book you wish had never had been written?

I’m with Dr. Gordon on that one: Mein Kamph.

One book you are currently reading?

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle … borrowed from a friend, Dr. Miguel Jurado.

(Thanks Miguel! I’ll be sending it back soon!)

One book you have been meaning to read?

Dr. Schwab’s book, which I’ve already ordered, and Dr. Charles and Dr. Gordon’s books … which I’m going to order next …

… and Dr. Grumet’s book - when he writes it.

Now tag five people:

Dr. Scan Man at Scan Man’s Notes

Ipanema at Land’s End

Dr. Anonymous at … gee, what’s the name of that blog again? Ohhhhh yeah! I remember, at Dr. Anonymous!

Cathy at Cathy’s Rants and Ramblin’s

Dr. Jordan Grumet at In My Humble Opinion

I want to add Fat Mama Doc for good measure … Fat Doctor … >;o)

*Moof snickers in an evil way*

  7. wandering visitor UNITED STATES Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4 Says:

Piers Anthony! Used to love his books - haven’t seen that name for a while! Have you read Tolkien? Those are goooooooood…

  8. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Wandering Visitor … thank you for stopping in! Tolkien! Who hasn’t read Tolkien? I have him at the very top of my all time favorites. A friend lent me “The Hobbit” when I was a teen ager, in the Navy. It opened up a whole new world for me.

    Have you seen the movie?

  9. ripple of hope UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

Has anyone heard from our dear Dr. A?

  10. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Ripple … I haven’t heard anything about him, and I’m frankly worried, because he’s been “right there” all along, and made no mention of being away for a time …

I hope he’s ok and is just busy … or even better, off having such a good time that he’s just forgotten about blogging for a few days.

Hopefully, he won’t worry us all sick by pulling a Dr. Dork on us … :o(

  11. Cathy UNITED STATES Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Off topic but I’m also worried about Dr. A…….I’m going to try sending an email today if he doesn’t show up on his BLOG fairly soon. I’ve gotten so addicted to his BLOG that I miss him him alot. This just doesn’t sound like him.

  12. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Cathy, I agree, and it worries me too. God forbid that the poor man ever come to feel that he can’t attend to his life without running it by his adoring blog friends, but by the same token, I think that at least in our little segment of the “blogosphere,” we’ve all become rather close knit, and are all concerned for each other.

Since we can’t tell what’s really happening when someone vanishes, we eventually conjure up the worst in our minds, and worry ourselves sick over our absent friends.

I hope he’s OK, and that he’s just very busy. Perhaps he had to make an unexpected trip out of town. Whatever! I just hope that he’s OK and is back with us soon!

  13. wolfbaby UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

Wolfbaby smakes hand on head…. sighs…. Pk explained what that book is… moof… you must have been wondering what i was think… well i didn’t honestly know..*Blush*…

the hobit was awesome.. i used to read it to my niece and nephew.. *clears throat* now my sister blames there reading on me LOL…

  14. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Wolfbaby … cut yourself a bit a slack. How are you supposed to know about something that’s never been brought to your attention before? If you don’t know about something that everyone else seems to know a bit about, it could be that your teachers were to blame for not having it be a part of your studies.

    {{{ hugs! }}}

  15. Peggikaye UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

MOOF! I told her something JUST like that!

    Maybe she’ll listen to you!

I agree, Dr. A should have some freedom, but … we worry.

  16. scan man INDIA Mac OS X Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Moof, I managed to get someone else to cover for me today at the Small Town Hospital. So I got to go see the Sports Day in my daughter’s school.
    About the tag…
Well…I’m a little apprehensive after going through just your list.
I think you guys are in a different league. I don’t read such high-brow books :)
I’ll try and fill up the list. But don’t be surprised by the books that you see there.

  17. Flea Mac OS X Safari 419.3 Says:

Wow! Haven’t heard of most of these (except the Bible, I’ve even read it!)

    best,

    Flea

  18. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.6 Says:

Pk … I hear you. None of us want to step on someone else’s privacy … but we get so “attached at the hip” that we worry about each other …

Can’t be helped, I guess. I’m even more worried today, by the way.

Dr. Scan Man … “high brow books!?” *LOL* Most of what I listed were SciFi books!

I loved your list, by the way! You had some excellent books in there!

Dr. Flea … the reason you haven’t heard of most of those is because when I was reading SciFi and Fantasies, you were reading Medical texts! ;o)

You’ve read the Bible!? Whoa! Neat! I’ve read the Torah … and started to read the Book of Psalms in Hebrew … but discovered that my Hebrew wasn’t up to it. Would be even less up to it now, I’m afraid.
