Are You Going to Scarborough Fair …

… parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme …

Actually, it was a seafood buffet, and I’m pretty sure we don’t have a fair in Scarborough, although we do have Scarborough Downs

It was good to see Fr. Bob (the Reverend Robert Girouard … now you try to pronounce that! ;o) … we don’t see each other often enough. Fr. Bob is retired, and is a snow bird … he winters in Florida. I believe we’ve been friends for more than 20 years. When Joanie lost her dad, Fr. Bob did his funeral … and when I lost my own dad 10 days later, he did my father’s funeral too. It was a rough month - we even saw a dear friend go to prison that month for something he hadn’t done.

There have been a lot of good times, too … we’ve had delightful arguments “discussions” which no one ever won, and shared so many entertaining hours together that it would be difficult to remember even a small part of them. We know each other all too well after these many years, and stay right on each other’s hides when the BS starts getting too deep … ;o)

I said I would post some pics of today, and so here they are … each with an intro …

FrBob01.jpg

This is Fr. Bob … isn’t he cute?
Can you just see this fellow being a spiritual guru?
*snicker*

Actually, he’s always been a very good pastor, and his sense of humor has been no small part of his success. I’m proud to know him.

Althea01.jpg

This is my Mom-in-Law, Althea Ballard. She’s my partner in crime. I love her to bits. If I move to Florida, she’s the one I’ll really miss.

MomEngland01.jpg

This is Mom England, Joanie’s Mom. She just surprised me tonight by telling me that she’s lived in New York! I thought she’d always lived in Maine! She’s an amazing lady … I don’t know if there’s anything she can’t do …

Joanie01.jpg

My dear friend - since I was 13! We’ve only been apart for about a decade since we met … and now, she’s way up in Bangor (over 3 hours away) and I’m about to move to Florida. Gonna soak lots of tissues over this one before it’s over …

Dougie01.jpg

This is my wise-beyond-his-years chef son, confidant, and adviser. He’s also an amazing tech-head. He and his younger brother are the product of home schooling, and I can’t say enough about it. It turns out great people!

Moof01.jpg

Yes, that’s me. I had a bad case of “helmet head” because of the darn rain. It poured buckets for the entire trip. We’re having a very very wet year.

And that’s it for now! Wow! Two personal posts in the same week!!! *LOL*

I’m going to work on something a little more blogworthy before the week end … or at least I intend to try. Don’t give up on me! :o)

Oh you went out to eat without me…. AGAIN! Shame on a Moof….

I’m glad you guys had fun though! Great pictures!! We need to buy Fr. Bob a new shirt… he wore that one the last time we went out!

And your hair is not that bad…. You are too hard on yourself!! I see you are wearing that cute little necklace you made. I love it!

Don’t worry, Grammie (Althea Ballard) can come visit us in Florida!! I’m sure she wouldn’t mind getting away from the cold for a bit…

I love the personal posts!! Make MORE!!

  2. Dr. Anon UNITED STATES Mac OS X Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Great pictures. I see you were looking a the “Classic Cocktails” menu. Did you partake? I hear that Fr. Bob is quite the party animal! I enjoy the personal posts, too. Keep them coming!

  3. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Sarah, Sweetie … yes, I occasionally go out to eat without you, because you’re wayy the heck up in the boonies of Old Town instead of being down here in the Tropics of Berwick!

We did have fun! Unca Bobby and I had our first argument of the season, so it’s gonna be a great summer! *does a little dance!*

By the way, I hope he sees what you said about his shirt! >;o)

Send him some pics of Dae, by the way … he wants some!

Dr. Anon! Yes, I looked at them, but I waited until I got home to indulge. My regular readers know that I’m a “Grateful Dead” addict. The restaurants will only serve you two, and then you’re cut off …

Had something more tame at home though … a simple Jim Beam and ginger ale. Makes a nice nightcap!

Fr. Bob is quite the party animal … you’ve got him pegged! He’s all of the entertainment you need rolled up in one rather substantial package! *ducks and runs* >;o)

Imagine … Moof being too hard on herself … lol …only always.

It looks like a good time was had by all. I wish I was able to join in some festivities, what fun that would be. sigh.

  5. Shelly Franz UNITED STATES Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Sarah, she goes out to eat without me ALL the time… mainly because i happen to be in Illinois…*grin*.
I highly doubt persuading Classmate X to vacation in either Maine or Florida, so I’m sure the trend of Moof eating out without me is destined to continue…
Love the pics, and “helmet head”?? Looks better than mine would look after being out in the rain (think bedraggled witchlocks).

  6. Flea UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

Helmet head? It’s looks good enough to me! I’ll try it!

    Flea

  7. Arunn INDIA Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Moof: You seem to be picture-unshy, intent to get yourself pictured! Helmet-head is something that I will be having for sometime now - today I went to the saloon and had a army-crew cut.

  8. kt UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

you don’t have hair helment! trust me, i have a radar for this. looks like a great time..plus i love personal posts - i agree with dr. A, keep them coming.

  9. It's me, T.J. UNITED STATES Windows 98 Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

    Hey Moof…

Glad you got to go out to eat.

Wishing I could have gone with you though.

    One more thing…

I get the error “Stack Overflow 72″ when I click on the comments link.

    later…

    One more thing…

I got a “Stack overflow on line 110″ just now when clicking to post my comment.

    later…

  11. drcharles UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

great that you respect your ‘elders’ so much. they are precious.

  12. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Pk … I wish you could have joined the festivities too! The toughest part of blogging is that the frienships are mostly long distance … :o(

Awww Shelly! I’ll be forever heartbroken that you and Classmate X won’t move to Florida with me! (j/k) … :o)

Would be great to get to meet and share a meal, though, wouldn’t it?

Dr. Flea … you’ll TRY it? *blink*

Shall I shave it off and send it to you UPS? ;o)

You’ve got plenty of your own though … you don’t need my helmet … 0.o

Arunn, I’m actually very picture shy. Ask my sons and my daughter in law. They’re always complaining that they can never get a good picture of me. Don’t I know it! *LOL*

Now Arunn, you need to post a picture of yourself on your blog! I want to see the new look! :o)

    Kt … you’re a sweetie! Thanks for visiting and leaving me such a nice comment! {{{ hugs! }}}

TJ … I’m wishing you could have come with us too! One of these days, we’ll have to figure out a way to meet!

By the way, I posted something about the Stack Overflow error …

Dr. Charles! Thanks for visiting me and leaving a comment! Yes, our “elders” are precious … in so many ways.

Your comment struck me, at first … I don’t think of them as “elders,” I guess. Those are my friends. With the exception of my kids, and of Joanie, who’s my age, virtually all of my very closest friends are in their 70’s and 80’s.

Then again, my husband is in his 60’s … so, we’re not far behind.

Ahhh time. It’s such an uncompromising phenomenon.

  13. Arunn INDIA Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Moof: Our camera is out of battery (really!) although my wife says it conked out when she tried to take my picture with it.

BTW, I like the song are you going to scarborough fair very much (and most of Paul Simon’s), although the lyrics are dark.

I think you are all a great looking group.

  15. pattie (domesticator) UNITED STATES Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 Says:

Great pics, Moof. Thanks for sharing them! Looks like you had a nice time, huh? So what is going on? Are you really moving down South?
