Meet the Mysterious Classmate X

Classmate X and I shared a very pleasant course in November and December of last year. We spent a lot of time entertaining each other, since we were required to “post” to our “classroom threads” no less than 3 times a week … with what is euphemistically tagged as “valued added posts.”

To my delight, I discovered that my dear classmate has a web site of his own: The Partnership for an Idiot Free America. I also discovered, even more delightfully, that he’s wonderfully opinionated, blunt, and is a very entertaining read! I would hate to have to answer some of his mail though …

Classmate X and I agree on quite a few points, even if I’m not always quite as outspoken. >;o)

He picked up on the Abuse thread we’ve been having here, and weighed in with his own opinion. As always, he can take whatever is said, and distill it down to its bare essence … and then spit it back out at you in plain English!

If you’re easily offended, politically correct, or lean rather a bit to the left … I warn you now … don’t go there.

P.S.

By the way … should one of us actually tell him that his hopes for an “Idiot Free America” are a bit idealistic? I think that if we ever achieved such a thing, someone would certainly invent a better idiot!

You should’ve seen the joke my CIS170 instructor (”teacher” would be too kind) made of the threads; she’d post ONE question to each thread and we were responsible for making the rest up on our own, resulting in a whole bunch of attaboys and the dreaded “I agree” posts. She graded them quite arbitrarily. ENGL135 on the other hand was great; would’ve been handy to have you around as a foil…
For those so inclined, if you’re at my site, scroll down to the first post at the bottom; this is actually http://www.idiotfreeamerica.net version 2.0; while I saved all the fun stuff (look in the Pages), I’ve tried to clean up the language etc (it wasn’t easy) to make it more presentable for my English class. See, one of the assignments was to make a web page from the first 4-6 pages of our end-of-term research paper (mine can be found under Essays); in the process of doing this (and as a result of both this class and that first infamous ENGL112 class), I decided to take my writing more seriously.

By the way … should one of us actually tell him that his hopes for an “Idiot Free America” are a bit idealistic? I think that if we ever achieved such a thing, someone would certainly invent a better idiot!

We propellerheads have a favorite saying…”Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.” Alas, the one thing idiots do best, it seems, is reproduce…but hey, everyone should have goals in life, right?

Moof — What a great way for me to be introduced to your blog. Does Classmate X have his own radio show or podcast yet — THAT would be entertaining!

Thanks for the advice on Bloglines. I’m going to check it out. I may have to take you up on your offer to help this newbie blogger as I get started.
    Thanks again!

    Hey Moof…

    Glad you’re doing well.

I kind of like Classmate X.

    later…

Classmate X! How good it is to see you!!!

Your CIS instructor sounds scary … I’ve had a few like that too, now. Some courses are just not meant to done through the media of threads … I wonder if we’ll know anything when we get out of there! *LOL*

My next session: “Introduction to Health Services and Information Systems” … I have no idea what to expect.

would’ve been handy to have you around as a foil…” … my dear, do you know have any idea of how many times I’ve thought that about you? ;o)

Hopefully we’ll run across each other again … but if not, at least we’re still in touch through our blogs!

Thanks for visiting … I’ve got you blogrolled and RSS’ed.

    Dr. A! thanks for visiting!

Now … was that compliment tongue in cheek? >;o)

About help getting set up … please indulge me and just holler, because I love helping people get their blogs going. You may find yourself swamped with info!

You know … I may have to get creative with your blog name. “Dr. A.” is just too hard on my blood pressure … I keep thinking my PCP is dropping in on me … *blink!!!*

Is there such a thing as “white coat hypertension by proxy?” *LOL*

T.J.! Good to see you! Yes, I’m “hanging in there,” Thank you.

Glad for a bit of a break from school … had a rather intense 8 weeks. How are your classes going?

I “kind of like” Classmate X too! Back in November and December, he and I had English Comp together, and I can’t tell you how grateful I was to him … it’s sometimes hard to keep the classrooms threads hopping, and our grades depend on it.

Intriguing concept, Doctor…The idea’s been tossed about a few times…My wife was previously married to a lifelong radio-guy, and she says I’d have a great voice for it. On second thought…
Seriiously, broadcast radio has become so pathetic over the last decade that the only place left for me would be (shudder) NPR, so that’s out. Podcast? Maybe. I’ll have to get with Steve Dahl (he of “Disco Demolition” fame, a true Chicagoan and consummate radio-guy) and see how that’s going for him. The only problem I’d have with that is limiting myself to that segment of the population who’s chosen to pay that much for a #%&*@! iPod…then again, maybe that’s where I should be looking to cultivate an audience, no?

Classmate X, I like. I am already out of the US, so I guess, he can count one idiot minus.

(what with me leaving this comment here rather than THERE, in X’s blog…)

i am not sure if i love anything more than raw and bluntness! thank you for the site moof :)

  9. Moof Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Arunn! Good to see you! I don’t mind your leaving a comment for Classmate X here … it allows me to get in on the action! :o)

Glad to have provided it, Kt … he has a lot of interesting stuff over there!

  10. Cathy UNITED STATES Windows XP Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 Says:

Oh Moof, I loved reading at classmate X’s site. I love blunt! No guessing where someone stands that way. I also agree with your comment to him, about the death sentence. I worry about the judicial system not having the RIGHT person. Once they are executed it’s just to late to say “Sorry!”

Thanks Moof for always being you.
