Ian! That’s just awful! You know … I’m sure it’s made you wiser … it takes a certain kind of person to go through that sort of thing, and not become wiser. Jaded isn’t always a given, though. Your writing doesn’t come across as “jaded” …

1996 was a remarkably crappy year for me, and I think I came in at about 786 in my tally, including separation and divorce, death of a parent, change of residence (divorce does that), change of work responsibilities leading to layoff, and more, and more and more. But, you know, I survived and am more jaded yet maybe wiser. I dunno.
